Car firm workers in Glasgow strip off to drive home organ donation message
Staff at Mercedes-Benz in Glasgow are supporting the government's We Need Everybody campaign
COLLEAGUES of a man who is on the critical list for a heart transplant have stripped off to drive home the message that Scotland needs more organ donors.

Staff at Mercedes-Benz in Glasgow bravely shed their suits to show their support for Michael Hanlon, a sales executive for the firm.

Michael has been waiting for a heart transplant since July last year at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank.

The father-of-three was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 2004, a condition which was passed on genetically.

After experiencing heart failure in 2007 and undergoing open heart surgery to have a metal valve fitted, an infection in 2014 caused Michael’s condition to worsen leading to him being listed for transplant.

The only cure for Michael’s condition is a transplant, however because of his blood group, he can only receive an O type heart, narrowing the field for him. Continue reading
