Blackbaud has announced its acquisition of global social impact technology firm EVERFI, with the aim of working together in the technology and data-driven impact space to help more organisations support the education of children in the UK.

The deal saw a cash and stock transaction for approximately $750 million.

In the education sector, EVERFI’s presence in the public school space complements Blackbaud’s presence in the private school and higher education markets. EVERFI works with roughly 90% of schools across the UK, and more than 45 million learners globally with the support of private, public and social sector organisations, helping schools expand children’s education to include life skills from managing finances and digital wellness, to compassion, STEM careers and sustainability. Together, the organisations will work to help corporations drive meaningful social impact across a large span of technology-enabled programme areas, from community education to volunteering, grantmaking and philanthropy.

EVERFI’s executive team and CEO Tom Davidson will join Blackbaud with a focus on accelerating expansion efforts.

Mike Gianoni, president and CEO, Blackbaud said:

“As companies continue to invest further in ESG and CSR programs to both give back and meet regulatory demands, they need a partner who can help connect their philanthropic goals to meaningful social impact opportunities. Blackbaud and EVERFI will work together to realise a shared vision of measurable social impact through technology.”

Tom Davidson, CEO, EVERFI added:

“Blackbaud and EVERFI have similar cultures and a strong sense of purpose. EVERFI’s software powers some of the largest ESG and CSR initiatives in the world, and this alignment will drive impact for millions of learners every year.”

Last year’s free bbcon 2021 Virtual conference included a number of sessions focusing on school and higher education.
