Asthma UK has appointed Graham Kelly as its new director of fundraising, effective as of 24th April. Kelly has more than 25 years’ fundraising experience, and has been a member of senior leadership teams for the past 13 years. Most recently he was director of fundraising at Beating Bowel Cancer, where he led the charity to become the Institute of Fundraising Charity of the Year in 2015, having doubled the charity’s gross income. Prior to this Kelly held fundraising roles at charities across the health, disability and social care sectors including: Whizz-Kidz, Age Concern, RNID and RNIB. At Asthma UK, Kelly will be responsible for the overall development, direction and delivery of the charity's fundraising portfolio including: legacies, individual giving, gaming, trusts, major donors, corporates, innovation funders, sporting events and community. Kay Boycott, chief executive of Asthma UK, said: “Graham joins Asthma UK at a hugely exciting time, with our new strategy in the final stages of development that is set to put us on the path to increase our reach and impact. I am delighted to welcome Graham and believe his breadth of experience, including his delivery of stretching fundraising targets, strategic approach to change and grasp of technology and digital will help us take our fundraising to the next level. Graham has already outlined great ideas and new opportunities for Asthma UK and we look forward to seeing these realised.” Kelly commented: “I am really pleased to be joining Asthma UK as director of fundraising and believe there is real potential at the charity to build on the great work already being developed. I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with the Asthma UK team to take fundraising forward for such a vital cause."
