Have you been struggling to make an absolutely amazing "elevator pitch" for your organization?
You might be going to the wrong floor. Maybe your pitch should be boring, according to this post at the Big Duck Blog, The case for a boring elevator pitch.
I've heard a lot of nonprofit elevator pitches, and some of them are so polished and so on-brand that you can't quite tell what they actually mean. And sometimes it's a pile of words that no socially normal human being would ever say to another human in a normal social context.
Instead of going that direction, think about being boring, literal, and non-fancy:
Focus on keeping [your elevator pitch] simple and clear, so that everyone at your organization can say it over and over again.
A "boring" pitch should make it completely and clear what your organization literally does not the clever meta-concept behind your work. And it should be simple enough for everyone on your staff to be able to remember it and successfully say it whenever they need to.
Clarity and simplicity are what makes it work. It's no coincidence that those things are also key to successful fundraising.
