More than 100,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for an organ transplant, according to organdonor.gov.

A Central Wisconsin group is doing what it can to promote organ donations that can save and change lives.

Shelby Gerbig-Fehlhaber, co-founder of North Central Wisconsin Donate Life, was on Wake Up Wisconsin Thursday morning to talk about the organization her late husband, Ted Gerbig, started in 2007.

After receiving a lung transplant, Ted was on a mission to promote organ donation. He even received a Jefferson Award for his work.

Now, recipients like Isak Blum carry on the message.

Blum recently received his third cornea transplant. He said clearer vision has changed his life. He recently got to see a meteor shower and appreciates being able to see his fishing line and watch the bobber dip when he hooks a fish. Continue reading
