MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two-year-old Brooklyn Faris is about to have a new liver.
The family received a call Wednesday that a liver was available for Brooklyn in Chicago.
Diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Allagille Syndrome when she was an infant, Brooklyn was given a 50 percent chance of living just four to six months.
Brooklyn is now in liver failure and desperately needs the transplant.
“Brooklyn is a feisty girl; she’s really happy,” Brooklyn’s mom, Jesse Faris, told WREG earlier this month. “But she will fight for what she needs. I think that’s what’s kept her around this long.”
Brooklyn’s positive, fighting spirit has helped her survive, but it was the generous support of the community that will help make the transplant financially possible. Continue reading
