Nine of the group have had double lung transplants, one a new heart, another a new kidney and one holds the world record for being the longest surviving heart-lung transplant recipient

Dressed to the nines and smiling broadly, these dozen adults look the picture of health and happiness.

But this photograph holds an astonishing secret – everyone in it has been on the brink of death and survived, thanks to generous organ donations.

Nine of the group have had double lung transplants , another had a new heart, one had a new kidney and one holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest surviving heart-lung transplant recipient in the world.

Veronica Lanzetta, 30, a mental health receptionist, from Woking, who had a double lung transplant after a life-long battle with cystic fibrosis - an incurable genetic disease, causing lungs to become clogged with sticky mucus and restricting breathing - said: "It's a miracle in a picture, because all of us have been through so much pain and hardship.
