日本臓器移植ネットワークは３日、栃木県済生会宇都宮病院に頭部外傷で入院していた成人女性が２日午前７時４１分に臓器移植法に基づき脳死と判定されたと発表した。また、京都府内の病院に蘇生（そせい）後脳症で入院していた４０代男性が３日午前１１時８分、脳死と判定された。２人とも書面で臓器提供の意思を示していなかったが、家族が承諾。脳死判定は法施行後４０２例目と４０３例目、本人の意思不明は２３４例目と２３５例目となった。
