Leukaemia Care and fundraising platform GivePenny are launching World Gaming Day this October with an opportunity for other charities to partner with the event and raise funds.

World Gaming Day will take place on Saturday 22 October and charities partnering with the event will have unlimited places to offer to gamers.

The event is ‘the upgraded version of the traditional coffee morning, organised for charities’, according to Leukaemia Care and GivePenny. It offers a gaming fundraising campaign built for mass participation, with research quoted by the two suggesting that there are 11mn people aged between 25-45 in the UK alone who are classified as gamers.

World Gaming Day has been designed to fit alongside any existing streaming-for-good fundraising products the charity may have already.

Hosts who sign up to hold an event and raise money will receive a t-shirt, a video invite to send to their friends, a personalised fundraising email journey and a dedicated fundraising page on the GivePenny platform.

Zack Pemberton-Whiteley, CEO of Leukaemia Care said:

“We’re delighted to be working with GivePenny to bring an innovative gaming product to the charity market. Collaboration is key in the sector and we know that by offering partnerships to the wider charity community, we can turn this event into a huge gaming fundraiser for all involved.”

Lee Clark, CEO at GivePenny added:

“With the core premise of the event being about bringing people together, World Gaming Day stands a chance of becoming this generation’s coffee morning. The plug-and-play nature of the event for charities will mean the concept can be shared far and wide, leading to lots of money raised for good causes.’

A webinar will be held on 12 July at 12noon for charities interesting in finding out more about the charity partnerships available.
