NC woman gives ultimate Christmas gift to 6 strangers

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Sunday, Melissa Clark died unexpectedly from a brain aneurism. After being declared dead at the hospital, her family decided to have her organs donated. Carol Williams, Melissa’s mother, recalled her final moments with her daughter before she died on December 13.

Melissa’s story

“You know the old saying, every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings?” Carol explained as she jingled a little bell ornament that was one of Melissa’s favorite to hang.

“She came Thursday evening and helped me decorate my Christmas tree,” said Carol, pointing to ornaments that reminded her of Melissa—one with her name, a few she had made, and jingling the bell one final time.

That Thursday, December 10, was the last moment Carol Williams talked with her daughter, Melissa, face-to-face. Two days later, Melissa was taken to the emergency room. Continue reading
