Kent’s School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) offers two distinct programmes for professionals seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge:

MA Civil Society, NGO and Non-profit Studies

Drawing on the unique combination of scholarly and practical knowledge of the third sector, social movements and philanthropy situated at Kent, you develop a detailed understanding of the evolution of civil society and the role organisations and institutions play in political, social and economic life.

MA Philanthropic Studies

An innovative online programme that meets demands for better higher educational provision for the charity workforce, as well as demands from donors for greater understanding of the meaning and purpose of philanthropy. The programme also draws significantly on expertise from beyond the University, including teaching contributions from leading philanthropy experts, advisers, consultants, grant-makers, fundraisers and strategic philanthropists.

In the Research Excellence Framework 2014, research by SSPSSR was ranked 2nd for research power in the UK. The School was also placed 3rd for research intensity, 5th for research impact and 5th for research quality – you couldn’t choose a better environment to base your postgraduate studies.
