How to write a great thank you letter

Thanking donors matters. So any time I get a chance to look at the good thank-you letters, I pay attention.

Check out the attributes of an effective thank you:

1. The letter starts out with a strong opening focusing on the donor.
2. It tells a story and tells the reader exactly what you'll be doing with their donation.
3. It tells the reader when they can expect to hear from you and offers a phone number and a contact person.
4. The donor's loyalty is acknowledged.
5. It's signed by someone from the highest ranks of the organization.
6. Includes an enclosed thank you letter direct from [a beneficiary].
