I love a nerdy, English-major post about writing like this one from COMMUNICATE: How Your Nonprofit Can Listen like Austen, Write like Hemingway.

Jane_Austen_coloured_version

Jane Austen had great ears. She clearly listened to people talking a lot, and with great attention. That's the real joy of reading her novels. Despite the deadpan delivery and situations, the dialog of her characters is often hilarious.

(And there's one Austen character whose speech I'm pretty sure is lifted from one of my aunts. I'm not sure how Austen managed the time-travel part of this!)

Listen like Austen. Notice the way people talk, and write that way. It'll help make your appeals irresistible!

Ernest Hemingway has a style that pulls you in and keeps you attached, flying from word to word and paragraph to paragraph.

It's spare, chopped and easy to read.

Write like Hemingway. People will actually read your appeals. And that's half the battle.

I can help you listen like Austen and write like Hemingway in your fundraising. Work directly with me and optimize your message! Click here for detail and how to book here.
