Seth Godin got one of those puzzling memos that nobody reads. And wondered what it would take to get it read. Here's what he came up with: Get your memo read. This is worth a look, because these tips also work for fundraising messages ... so many of which nobody reads.
Seth says do these things:
- Pattern interrupt. (Do something odd or unexpected. That is much less likely to be ignored.)
- Write a story. (Automatically more interesting than all the important facts in the world -- especially when you make the story about the donor!)
- Frame the story. (Put it in the donor's world. Why does it matter to her?)
- Chunk the message. (One call to action. No more than that.)
