Shortlist announced for 2017 IoF National Fundraising Awards

The Institute of Fundraising has announced the shortlist for the National Fundraising Awards, now in their 27th year. Each year the awards recognise excellent fundraising by charities, agencies and individual fundraisers. There are 14 categories including Best Fundraising Newcomer and Best Fundraising Charity of the Year, and Most Committed Company to the Sector. The awards are the only accolades in the sector for fundraisers by fundraisers. Those shortlisted demonstrate a range of dedication, creativity, determination and collaborative working. The winners will be announced at a celebratory evening ceremony and dinner at the Brewery in London on Monday 3rd July 2017, at the end of the first day of the IoF's Fundraising Convention. The shortlists for 12 of the Awards were announced this morning. The remaining two individual awards - the Lifetime Contribution Award and Gill Astarita Fundraiser of the Year Award - will be announced on the night. Howard Lake, Chair of the judges, said: "The charities shortlisted for this year's awards are an inspiration to us all. Their hard work, dedication, passion and innovation shine through in the stories and examples of excellent fundraising they represent. They are some of the best in the sector and as a fundraising community we should all be proud of them and offer our thanks and congratulations. We now look forward to finding out who the winners are at the National Awards ceremony on 3rd of July." Ruth Ruderham, one of the judges, said: 'It was a great privilege to judge the National Fundraising Awards. As always, the shortlist was full of charities - both large and small - demonstrating best practice fundraising from which the rest of the sector can learn. But this year, I was particularly impressed by the way so many charities were being creative and finding new ways to really engage their supporters in their cause. The combination of excellence and innovative was really inspirational.'
