If you don't have a monthly giving program, you are not doing fundraising right. It's getting harder to get and keep donors, so monthly giving has gone from a very good idea to a must for survival.

Why do organizations not have monthly giving programs? Maybe they believe one of the common myths about it. Check out this great post from A Direct Solution and break free from the misinformation: What's the Biggest Monthly Giving Mystery?

  1. Starting a Monthly Giving Program Is Expensive. You can start online at very low cost, and build from there.
  2. Starting a Monthly Giving Program Takes Too Much Time. It can take time, but not all that much.
  3. My Organization Needs Money Right Now. While monthly giving is an investment in the future, it also brings in revenue right away.
  4. Once Donors Give Monthly, They're Always Going to Stay at That Low Level. Monthly donors are very good at upgrading their giving. And it's not at all hard to get some major donors to add monthly giving to their engagement.
  5. Following Up on Monthly Donors Who Stop Donating Is Intrusive and Not Donor-Centric. They want to give! They're fine with reminders. If they want to stop, they'll tell you.
