Movember and advertising agency In the Company of Huskies have teamed up on an NFT campaign designed to fundraise for the charity forever.
The agency worked with Movember in 2020 on ‘Conversation Piece’ – a series of ambient outdoor digital artworks by Irish artists, which was projected onto famous Dublin landmarks, to encourage people to connect during lockdown and have meaningful conversations about mental health. In the Company of Huskies is now building on this campaign by creating a permanent record of it, in the form of an NFT gallery, for a never-ending fundraising initiative.
Huskies and Movember have developed a gallery of 200 NFTs, minted and stored on the Algorand Protocol. Priced according to scarcity, the NFT collection is based on the image of the iconic Poolbeg Chimneys that dominate the Dublin skyline. Movember and Huskies launched ‘Conversation Piece’ in 2020 by projecting the message ‘Together We Stand’ on the landmark, urging people to reach out, to connect and nurture positive mental health during the lockdown.
Photographed by Neil McDougald, the NFT captures the first time and only time – according to the Harbourmaster of Dublin Port – that anything has been projected onto the landmark.
The NFTs will be available for the general public to buy, with 100% of each sale going directly to Movember. In addition, every single time an NFT is sold on again, 10% of the sale price will go to Movember.
Jonathan Forrest, CEO of Huskies, commented:
“At Huskies, we’re constantly exploring innovative ways to develop pulling power for brands. ‘Conversation Piece’ captured a unique moment in time, so it made sense to create a permanent record and initiate a never-ending fundraising initiative with this NFT collection. We expect to be doing a lot more similar initiatives, in the Web 3.0 space, in the new year.”
Other charities are also raising funds through NFTs. Earlier this year, London based creative advertising agency Ekstasy launched an NFT auction to support Magic Breakfast, and The Whitworth launched an NFT image generated from William Blake’s The Ancient of Days.
