Here's a helpful look at what you can do right now to keep your fundraising -- and yourself -- going strong, from the CSS Blog, at The Fundraiser's Guide to Self-Management During the COVID-19 Pandemic:

  1. Prioritize the activities that bring in gifts. "Awareness" and "publicity" activities that don't directly generate funds are iffy in the best of times. Don't spend time or money on them now.
  2. You can still raise money while staying home. Call donors. Create virtual meetings with team members. Keep things going!
  3. Set aside 90 minutes daily to make phone calls. Checking in with donors -- as many as possible -- is one of the best uses of your time.
  4. KEEP out of your comfort zone. Things are different right now. You have to behave differently.
  5. Take it one day at a time. Looking ahead at an unknown stretch of time can be overwhelming. But you can get through today.
  6. Keep asking for help. Like Mr. Rogers said, "Keep looking for the helpers." There are a lot of them.
  7. In a time of reactivity, be proactive. Acting quickly will nearly always pay a dividend.
  8. Evaluate and adjust -- daily. One of the hard things about this is how quickly things change. Be on top of the change.
