If all goes as planned, Nellie Fischer, 19, of Grand Forks, will soon donate a kidney to a man she has never met.

She heard that Rob Burrows needed a kidney through his sister, Michelle Burrows, who works with Nellie at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks.

Rob, who's 44 and lives in Grand Rapids, Mich., has been on a transplant list for about two years. His health has been failing, especially in recent years.

"For the past 10 years now, it's been getting worse," Michelle said. "He's considered legally blind."

Her brother gets short of breath going upstairs, she said. "He just had a grandson a couple months ago; he can't enjoy his family."
