On Thursday, Oct. 8, at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting, BWN welcomed Lyn and David Presley to speak on behalf of organ donation and share their own story of David’s lifesaving experience.
“I had a kidney transplant about two and a half years ago,” explained David. “I was on dialysis for about five-and-a-half years before that – first on hemodialysis and then on peritoneal dialysis.”
Hemodialysis is the most common way that advanced kidney failure is treated. Patients must follow a very strict treatment schedule and take regular medications. Peritoneal dialysis is a way patients can remove waste products from their blood when the kidneys can no longer do the job adequately themselves. Continue reading
