Thousands of athletes are competing this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio in an Olympics-style event.
Only these athletes, at the Transplant Games of America, are carrying with them the gift of a second chance and the passion to spread the word about the life-giving value of organ donation.
Arthur Rhea, 47, is among them. A former Houston EMT, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in his late 30’s.
"It was just shocking that at my young age I was developing these symptoms,” Rhea said.
Doctors at Houston Methodist told him his only hope would be a heart transplant. It happened four years ago, on June 23rd.
