Right now, there are nearly 2,000 Missourians and 1,000 Kansans who are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. The Midwest Transplant Network (MTN) aims to shrink those numbers by working with donor families and hospitals to encourage and facilitate organ donation.
Based on 2015 donation numbers, MTN has recognized Mercy Hospital Joplin with the Organ Conversion Excellence Award. The award means Mercy had at least four eligible organ donors and at least three ultimately gave the gift of life.
