Birmingham Hippodrome has announced a new fundraising partnership with West Midlands-based Willis & Legal Services Ltd. The company will offer a free Will writing service to any Birmingham Hippodrome customer, in return for a donation to support the theatre’s charitable work.

The Malvern-based company provides qualified paralegals who operate throughout England & Wales. They can offer services ranging from basic Will making to full estate planning.

It began rolling out its Free Wills Campaign across England and Wales last month, and has chosen Birmingham Hippodrome Development Trust as its first ever arts charity as a beneficiary.

A basic will-making service usually costs £75 or more, but through this partnership the theatre’s audience members can make a Will for free in return for a donation to Hippodrome CREATIVE. The charity suggests a donation of at least £40.

Rob Macpherson, Birmingham Hippodrome’s Director of Marketing Development said:

“This is a fantastic partnership for us which will see a donation made to Birmingham Hippodrome whenever a new will is made, helping us expand our range of creative, access and education projects to vulnerable communities across the West Midlands.  With the donations generated through this initiative, we will be able to expand our work with vulnerable communities on our doorstep.”

Hannah Evans, Wills & Legal Services Marketing Supervisor, added:

“So far, this scheme has already raised £175,000 for local charities.  We are so pleased to now be able to extend this scheme to the many customers of the theatre, with the double benefit of helping people who may not otherwise feel they can afford to have a Will drawn up and supporting a wonderful charity. Drawing up your Will need not be a daunting process and we would like to encourage anyone thinking of writing a Will to get in touch.”

Birmingham Hippodrome is a registered charity which achieves over 500,000 visits annually, making it the most popular single auditorium in the UK.  With no public revenue funding, it hosts Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange as resident partners; presents all of Welsh National Opera’s repertoire; and is “home to the world’s biggest Pantomime”.

It is currently expanding its Creative Programme – Hippodrome Creative – building on its successful work in education and in the wider community.  The theatre fundraises through Birmingham Hippodrome Development Trust in order to support its ambitions for Hippodrome CREATIVE.
