TOLEDO (13abc Action News) - The Transplant Games are a multi-sport competition designed to help promote the need for organ and tissue donation. The event attracts thousands of transplant recipients from around the country.
This year the games are in Cleveland and northwest Ohio will be well represented.

Today Tonya Gomez has plenty of energy. It was a much different story before her double lung transplant. She was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disorder that mainly affects the lungs, "I was on oxygen and I barely had enough energy to take a shower, I would fall asleep in church."

Tonya said not long after the transplant her energy returned and she's focused a lot of that energy on the Transplant Games. This year will mark her 6th appearance.
