A new app is making it possible to turn Zoom meetings into fundraising events.
Created by fundraising platform Pledge, the Donations by Pledge app allows any Zoom user to add a ‘Donate’ button into their call to raise funds for good causes, with a choice of more than 2.2 million charities in over 150 countries.
The app is free to use, with money disbursed to charities on a monthly basis, and it is available worldwide to Zoom users. Charities only pay payment processing fees with donors given the option of leaving an additional tip for Pledge.
To use it, Zoom users have to enable the app in settings, add Donations by Pledge to Zoom, create a fundraiser and share it with participants.
The app enables people to donate by clicking on a simple Donate button without leaving Zoom, and donors can also be thanked with an ‘I donated’ background. It also provides a real-time donation feed and enables text-to-donate as a back up option for those attending using their phones.
There are also a number of other opportunities for raising funds via Zoom. Another app that enables people and organisations to fundraise for themselves during Zoom meetings is available through POWR. This offers donation and payment buttons that can be customised and then added to Zoom meetings and webinars. In addition, Tixoom, which launched last year, helps event holders to collect payments or donations. Both are available through the Zoom official marketplace.
Another alternative is to add a QR code, as offered by The Giving Room. This initiative offers dedicated donation QR Codes and weblinks to charities and business video conference users wishing to support those charities.
