As well as new cross-sector charity OKRE announcing its first Chair, Dr Melrose Stewart has joined POhWER as its newest patron. Read on for more on these, and other recent appointments.

New Trustees for UK Community Foundations

UK Community Foundations (UKCF) has appointed six new independent Trustees to its board. Daniel Anjorin, Gill Bull, Helen McEachern, Anushka Nagpal, Kayathiri Supramaniam and Edge Watchorn will bring fresh thinking and new perspectives, having worked across a broad range of sectors. The Trustees were selected by UKCF following recommendations from recruitment agency, Green Park and from Getting on Board, an organisation that helps find the best possible volunteers to serve on charity boards. Anjorin’s (pictured) background is in Digital Transformation & Change Management with previous and current roles as a management consultant and in-house software consultant respectively. He is also an alumni ambassador for The Amos Bursary.


Chris Farrell takes up role at Day One Trauma Support

Day One Trauma Support has announced that Chris Farrell, former CEO of Cavendish Cancer Care, has joined the charity as Director of Service Delivery and Development. He will be responsible for scaling existing services and developing new ones, to support patients recovering from major physical injuries. The newly created role will be instrumental in helping Day One achieve its aims to support families affected by major trauma across the UK, to ensure that there is a holistic, wraparound approach for people who have experienced major physical injuries, not just during their hospital stay but in their recovery journey beyond.

Dr Yvonne Thompson becomes OKRE’s first Chair

Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE has been announced as the first Chair of new cross-sector charity OKRE. Dr Thompson joins the organisation with a long history of experience in communications, advising corporates, public sector, educational establishments and government championing equality, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.  OKRE enables collaboration between the research sector, entertainment industries and those with lived experiences to support the creation of fresh ideas and new content, with the mission to expand people’s understanding of the world.

New ambassadors join City Hospice

Leading figures in the South Wales business community have joined City Hospice as the charity’s newest ambassadors. City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, providing care to people with terminal and life limiting illnesses. The newly appointed ambassadors will champion and spread the word about the charity’s work within their communities, in addition to supporting events and fundraising campaigns. Among those Joining Spiro Borg, Managing Director of Spiro’s Fine Dining, and Chris Macnamara, Managing Director of The Brogue Trader its new business ambassadors include Kim Bird, CEO of Before You Go; Catherine Brannigan, The Waterloo Foundation; Sarah Clifford, Commercial and Sales Expert; and Terry Edgell, CEO of Premier Forest Group.


Melrose Stewart

Dr Melrose Stewart becomes POhWER Patron

Dr Melrose Stewart MBE has joined POhWER as its newest patron. Dr Stewart is a health and well-being specialist, having been awarded her MBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours List for physiotherapy services. She’s also a Chartered Physiotherapist, an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. Dr Stewart joins POhWER’s other patrons, which include actor, presenter and documentary maker, Peter Duncan, and thriller writer Samantha Lee-Howe, in supporting the charity’s work. 


Jennie York

WaterAid announces new Director of Fundraising and Communications

WaterAid has appointed Jennie York as its Director of Fundraising and Communications. York has extensive experience of the international development sector, having previously worked at WaterAid for five years when she led the Direct Marketing Team. She left in 2015 to take up the role of Deputy Director of Supporter and Communities at Save the Children UK, progressing to Director. She now rejoins the charity from Barnardo’s, where she is currently Director of Fundraising.


Bryn Attewell

GOOD appoints Bryn Attewell as Executive Creative Director

GOOD has appointed Bryn Attewell, formally a Global ECD at WPP/Grey London, as its new Executive Creative Director. Attewell has worked as a Copywriter, Creative Director and Executive Creative Director on some of the world’s most successful brands including Ford, Mondelez, Virgin, Microsoft, Vodafone and GSK. Most recently, he has been a Global ECD at WPP/Grey London. Prior to that, he worked at GTB as UK ECD on Ford, FCB, The & Partnership and Rapier. He was also Creative Director on the campaign, ‘This Girl Can’ for Sport England.
