From home cleaning brand Shark’s support of Dogs Trust and Cats Protection, to 30 Euston Square’s partnership with Euston Food Bank, and Spread A Smile’s with Character World, which sees blankets gifted to children in hospital (above), here are nine partnerships benefitting charities around the UK.

Dogs Trust, Cats Protection & Shark

Home cleaning brand Shark has announced it will extend its partnership with Dogs Trust and Cats Protection, committing to donate £50,000 to each charity over the next year. The partnership marks the third year in which Shark has partnered with the two charities, committing to over £380,000 in donations to Dogs Trust and Cats Protection since 2019.


Cancer Research UK & FootActive

Orthotic and lifestyle insole distributor FootActive has raised over £1000 for Cancer Research UK selling excess and resalable returned stock from its warehouse premises. FootActive employees Lynne Switzer, Warehouse Supervisor, and Laura-Jane Smith, Packing Operative, invited the public to buy FootActive insoles with 100% of the proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. The charity initiative was started to combat good stock going to waste, whilst raising funds.


Speed Of Sight & Orangutan

Speed Of Sight has teamed up with incentive scheme company, Orangutan, to give its regular donors a reward every month to say thank you and encourage others to sign up. The Inspire25 Club was set up by Speed Of Sight for businesses to support the charity by donating £25 each month, which hundreds of companies have signed up for. To further encourage businesses to sign up, Speed Of Sight is creating the Inspire25 + Club, where companies can donate £35 a month and receive monthly prizes, including holidays, vouchers and activities, such as paintballing for two. 100% of the donations will go to the charity. 


Tech4Teachers & The Learning Foundation

The Learning Foundation, Intel and Barclays has announced new funding for Tech4Teachers, a project that will provide computers to teachers at schools in disadvantaged communities. The organisations are coming together on this project under the umbrella of the Digital Poverty Alliance, which is run by the Learning Foundation.  The campaign will provide 550 devices to teachers who lack adequate online access. In addition, a new collaboration room for teachers, sponsored by Intel and Barclays, will be created on the Digital Poverty Alliance community hub. It will serve as an area for participating teachers to share best practices, ask questions, and seek guidance.


Spread a Smile & Character World

Spread a Smile has partnered with Character World, which has gifted a free blanket to 2,000 children in hospital. Featuring popular children’s characters including Baby Shark, Lego, Stranger Things, LOL OMG and Minecraft, the blankets are going to Spread a Smile’s 23 hospital partners, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College Hospital, Leicester Children’s Hospital, and Christie Hospital in Manchester. Spread a Smile is distributing the blankets alongside its programme of in-hospital and virtual entertainment which includes fairies, magicians, singers, face-painters, therapy dogs, art initiatives and family events.  There is an aim to spread 40,000 smiles this year and more than double its roster of hospital partners to 56 hospitals across the UK.

Euston Food Bank & 30 Euston Square

Conference, meeting and events venue, 30 Euston Square, has announced a £10,000 charity pledge to mark its 10th anniversary, with proceeds going to local charity, Euston Food Bank. Funds will be raised through a voluntary £10 donation for every event held at the venue, with 30 Euston Square matching the amount raised.


Channel Islands charities & Kleinwort Hambros

Kleinwort Hambros has partnered with the Jersey Women’s Refuge (JWR), and Guernsey’s Rural Occupational Workshop (GROW). The JWR focuses on supporting women and children fleeing domestic abuse. Through the partnership, Kleinwort Hambros will provide funding for two self-development courses for its service users. GROW provides training and mentorship for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties, helping them develop self-confidence and life skills. Kleinwort Hambros will provide funding to enable seven training supervisors to undergo an award in Education and Training. Last year, Kleinwort Hambros partnered with The Brilliant Club to deliver an educational course to students from underrepresented backgrounds across the UK.


The Wave Project & Days

Alcohol-free beer brand Days has announced the surf therapy charity, The Wave Project, as their Days Duty partner for 2022. As part of this partnership, The Wave Project will receive 2% of all sales, receiving enough funding to train up to 1,000 new volunteer surf mentors across the UK in 2022 for its surf therapy courses. B-Corp certified Days will support The Wave Project throughout 2022, directly funding the cost of training for new volunteers, including online training portals, in-water training sessions, lifeguard training, safeguarding costs and volunteer resources.


The Healthcare Workers’ Foundation & Parley for the Oceans

The Healthcare Workers’ Foundation (HWF) has partnered with global environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans (Parley), for the second time to support healthcare workers in the Maldives. The two have joined forces again to donate PPE – including recycled visors, hospital gowns, masks and goggles – to hospitals based in the Maldives, providing enough equipment to support all of the hospitals and covid facilities across the entire country. To coincide with this initiative, the charity has also donated 23,500 units of PPE – some of which are made from recycled ocean plastic – to hospitals in Sierra Leone in addition to a further 40,718 visors and goggles to the Africa Healing Foundation.
