Free Sounddelivery Media Spokesperson Training Programme open for applications

Applications are open for the Sounddelivery Media Spokesperson Training Programme, which aims to diversify the voices heard in the media and make it more representative of society.

The nine-month training programme is free to participants. Back for its second year, it aims to equip a new network of 14 leaders with the skills and confidence to become more visible public spokespeople to share their ideas, have their expertise heard more widely and ultimately drive change they want to see.

It is looking for leaders using their lived experience to create positive change in and for their communities to take part, and will prioritise people/communities that are underrepresented in the media. Funding has also been ring-fenced to ensure that accessibility needs are not a barrier to participation.

The programme consists of

• A 3-day (2 nights) residential in Leamington     
• Training covering everything from building your online presence using social media, blogging, vlogging, campaigning skills, interview preparation and media training, and presentation skills. 
• Site visits to media outlets
• Media Matches – Each participant will be matched with journalists and media professionals to have informal conversations, act as a sounding board for ideas and to share expertise and ideas for media appearances
• Peer mentors – previous programme participants or ‘Spokesperson Network Alumni’ will be able to give advice and additional support as you make your way through the programme
• Monthly (online) peer check-ins and support 
• Media opportunities – participants will be promoted to regional and national media outlets 
• Potential other speaking (inc paid) opportunities at events, conferences, festivals
• An end of programme learning event and graduation 

It is delivered by Sounddelivery Media and supported by The Tudor Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Lankelly Chase Foundation and Trust for London.

Applications are open until 5pm on Friday 8 April and are open to those in England. 

Sounddelivery is hosting a webinar today, Wednesday 23 March, from 1-2.30 to talk about the programme and to give people an opportunity to ask questions and to speak to people who took part in the pilot programme.
