The Poundland Foundation is accepting applications until 13 March for its latest round of grants for children’s sports organisations in the UK.
Grassroots sports groups working with children under 18 in any sport or physical activity from every part of the country can apply for support of up to £750 for new kits with around £210,000 to be shared as 280 grants.
After the first grant window last summer, the Poundland Foundation awarded 150 grants in September, giving away more than £100,000.
Successful applicants included basketball, boxing, cheerleading, dance, football, Gaelic football, hockey, watersports, martial arts, netball, rugby, table tennis, twirling and volleyball. They also came from all corners of the country, from Exeter to Edinburgh, Belfast to Barnsley and Merthyr Tydfil to Motherwell.
Applications for the latest round of grants can be made until 13 March via the Poundland Foundation website. Further details of eligibility and how to apply are given online and grants will be made to successful applicants by the end of April.
Money for the foundation comes from in-store fundraising, carrier bag donations and Poundland’s partnership with Pennies. The foundation opened last year.
Barry Williams, Managing Director of Poundland, said:
“We had a fantastic response to our first round of grant applications and it was wonderful to be able to provide money for kits for so many fantastic clubs and organisations.
“The Poundland Foundation was created to make a big impact on local communities and what better way to do that than by helping youngsters get involved in physical activities.”
