The Data Science for Social Good (DSSGx) team at the University of Warwick is looking for partners in the not-for-profit / government sectors that want to tackle critical social challenges with the help of data science and AI.
As a project partner on its 12-week summer 2022 programme, partners will get the following free of charge (although a contribution is welcomed):
- a data science team to work with
- a prototype solution (report, predictive model and software) that helps solve their problem using data science tools
- exposure and training — for the project at hand but also for how to tackle these projects technically as well as through validation
Each non-profit organisation will be matched with a data science team of 3-4 international students (undergraduate to PhD) from the DSSGX team who will develop a tailored approach to the organisation’s challenge over the summer. Professional technical mentors and project managers will ensure that time is used efficiently, deliverables for each week are achieved and that organisations’ goals are met.
Partner organisations must be able to commit one day a week equivalent through the summer.
The aim overall is to combine the training of students and recent graduates with the delivery of tangible data products that can help the third sector embed AI and data science into their operations. The DSSGx 2022 programme will run at the University of Warwick campus, Covid permitting.
