Unicef will benefit again from the Clipper Round the World Race

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, established by British sailor Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, is to continue with Unicef UK as its official race charity partnership to include the 2017-18 event. This will be the second consecutive partnership between the world’s longest ocean race and Unicef.

More than 700 international crew members and Clipper Race supporters will be encouraged to fundraise for Unicef during the Clipper 2017-18 Race.

Clipper Race CEO, William Ward said:

“Unicef is global and so are we so together we are a powerful fundraising combination. As our crew train and navigate the world’s oceans and face challenging environments, they will be making a difference to children around the world facing even tougher challenges each day.”

Since the partnership launched in April 2015, Clipper crew have raised £83,000 for Unicef.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is 40,000 nautical miles long and takes almost a year to complete. The longest ocean race in the world, it is also known as one of the planet’s toughest endurance challenges.

 

2. Jaguar Land Rover and Climate Care

Premium luxury vehicle manufacturer  Jaguar Land Rover is investing in a new smart water filtration technology project that will provide over 300,000 pupils in 375 schools across Bungoma County in Kenya with safe water.

The partnership with ClimateCare, a Certified B Corporation based in the UK and Kenya, is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s Global CSR Programme which launched in 2013 as part of its ‘Environmental Innovation’ strategy. The programme invests in education, technology, health, wellbeing and environmental projects which will positively impact 12 million people’s lives by 2020.

Nigel Clarke, Operations Director of Jaguar Land Rover Sub-Saharan Africa said:

“As a responsible business which is pioneering new technologies and innovations to reduce the impact of our vehicles, it makes sense for us to invest in new technologies which are tackling other sustainability issues around the world. These ambitions are embedded into the core of our business. That’s why we have set ourselves an ambitious target to create opportunities for 12 million people globally by 2020. Through our support, we hope to inspire and create opportunities for our future consumers and employees”.

 

 3. Innocent, Oliver Bonas and Age UK

Age UK's The Big Knit

innocent drinks donates 25p for each smoothie sold to Age UK.

Drinks company innocent is once again supporting Age UK’s The Big Knit campaign, now in its 12th year.

Age UK is inviting supporters to knit 800,000 little hats to adorn innocent smoothie bottles in February 2016.  For every bottle sold innocent drinks will donate 25p to the charity to help older people during the cold winter months.

Knitting patterns are available and supporters are asked to send in their hats by 11 December.

Oliver Bonas is supporting The Big Knit

Oliver Bonas’ collection of hats for men, women, children and babies is 100% British wool and raises funds for Age UK.

Independent lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas is also supporting The Big Knit. It will be selling an exclusive range of hand-knitted hats in aid of Age UK. £5 from each adult hat and £3 from each child’s hat sold will be donated to the charity.

 

4. My 1st years and Grief Encounter

Grief Encounter partnership

Child bereavement charity Grief Encounter is to benefit from a partnership with personalised baby gifting site My 1st Years.

Every pound donated from the My 1st Year Memory Range will go towards Grief Encounter’s weekly Grief Groups. These sessions help children find the words to put to their grief and meet other people who have experienced a loss similar to theirs.

5. Foxton’s and London’s Air Ambulance

Foxton has embarked on a three-year charity partnership

London estate agency Foxton’s has chosen London’s Air Ambulance for its charity partner in a three-year partnership, the company’s first long-term charity deal.

Foxton staff chose the charity following its successful ‘Your London, your Helicopter’ campaign to acquire and fund a second helicopter.

As well as sponsorship, the partnership will be involve employee fundraising activities, together with an extensive marketing campaign aimed at increasing public awareness of the charity.
