Software company Tableau is offering free licenses for its analytics software as well as data training to charities with annual operating budgets of £3 million or less.
Qualifying charities will receive access to the Tableau Desktop tool, which allows users to analyse their data visually in real time. The offer is available through the company’s newly launched Tableau for Nonprofits programme.
The company is also launching the Tableau Service Corps, a volunteer network of employees that charities will be able to request help from on any data-focused project.
Both programmes are being launched through Tableau Foundation, Tableau’s charity wing.
The company said:
“Data can have enormous value to charities, enabling them to quickly measure the results of fundraising campaigns, tailor communications to individual supporters, discover new trends and tell more powerful stories.”
In July research from consultancy Social Misfits Media in association with JustGiving and the Institute of Fundraising revealed that less than 24 percent of charities currently collect, analyse and implement data as part of their strategic planning and decision-making, while 82% lack the time to properly analyse the data they do collect.
