Angelynn Luckado is still thanking her "guardian angel," a young woman whose organ donation allowed her to breathe and walk on her own after months of uncertainty.
Angelynn, 14, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was just 2 years old. Ever since part of her lung was removed when she was 6, her family knew she would one day need a lung transplant.
After spending 149 days in the hospital last year – more than 100 of those on life support – she underwent a rare "heart-lung block" transplant. The procedure is known to have happened only once before.
