REDDING, Calif. - A man known for his hard work and dedication to the Redding community has kidney disease and he needs help quickly.
Former Redding Police Chief Robert "Bob" Blankenship needs a kidney transplant, but doctors said he needs one as soon as possible to save his life.
"Right now, I can't be too picky, so I'm willing to do anything," Blankenship shared.
Blankenship just got out of the hospital last week, but he was in good spirits Thursday. He said his disease has taken away much of his strength, but he's determined to fight back to save his life.
"It's tough and I'm sure it is for everybody facing this, but I mean, you have to look at it in the positive way because if I don't then, it's not worth it," Blankenship added.
He's currently on a wait list at UC Davis which could take up to five years, but doctors have told him he doesn't have that much time to wait. He's hoping to find a donor match as soon as possible. Continue reading
