SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Three years ago today Conway Police Officer William McGary was struck by a car as he was directing traffic, killing him.
Out of his death, though, came three saved lives as his organs were donated.
Seven hours before McGary came into the hospital, 57-year-old Charles Connor was in the same hospital, waiting on the transplant list for a heart. Doctors gave him a week to live because his was failing.
Three years ago he had a successful surgery, and today he's living a successful life because of it.
“This is Will,” Connor said, pulling a wallet-sized photo of McGary out from behind the visor above his driver’s seat. “I never forget him I keep him there.”
Connor has been living with fallen officer William McGary's heart for three years.
