Human Appeal and the Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding (Caabu) launched their Ramadan campaign in London on 25 May, attended by a number of MPs and journalists.
The event marked the upcoming start of Ramadan, and Human Appeal’s 2016 campaign, which has the strapline ‘Saving Lives. That’s what makes us human’, and directs people to ‘save a life today’ by donating online or by phone. The campaign is expected to see British Muslims donate over £100m.
The event also marked Homan Appeal’s 25th anniversary, and was organised by OnPoint Strategies and attended by Channel 4’s Jon Snow, Conservative Sir Alan Duncan MP, Labour’s Diane Abbott MP and the SNP’s leader in Westminster Angus Robertson MP, as well as a number of other MPS including Labour peer Lord Alf Dubs, former Conservative Minister Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, and Liberal Democrat peer The Lord Purvis of Tweed.
It was hosted by journalist and commentator Remona Aly, with Human Appeal CEO, Othman Moqbel, and Caabu Director Chris Doyle both speaking.
Othman Moqbel said:
“It is a huge honour to have such overwhelming support and to be able to share Ramadan with powerhouses from all across the political spectrum. We want to thank everyone who has helped us, whether they are a minister in government, someone donating £2.50 or a volunteer giving up their time.”
