Christmas saw British football brand Mitre back Shelter’s #NoHomeKit call to clubs to ditch their home shirts in Boxing Day fixtures to highlight the scale of homelessness and raise funds for the charity’s frontline work. For every special Mitre x Shelter football sold, £5 went to the charity.

Now, in other football-related fundraising news, with last season’s Emirates FA Cup winners, Leicester City beginning their defence of the trophy with a third round tie against Watford this Saturday (8 January), the team has donated two Leicester City shirts to raise funds for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope. Both are signed by all of the team who took part in the 2021 FA Community Shield match Leicester City Shirts against last season’s Premier League winners, Manchester City.

The first signed Leicester City shirt is available via auction and the second can be won via a prize draw at £3 an entry, with all monies raised funding sport sessions for homeless guests at the charity.

In addition, eBay has just launched its Dream Transfer raffle, giving Sunday League teams the chance to sign a football star for a special match, and raising funds for Football Beyond Borders.

Lots of other football teams are also supporting charities and good causes with charity games, bucket collections, and more.
