Charities dedicated to improving access to employment, training, housing, mobility, or leisure for society’s most disadvantaged can apply to the VINCI UK Foundation for 2022 grants.

The VINCI UK Foundation is inviting charities and community projects working to increase social cohesion across the UK and Republic of Ireland to apply for grants of up to £20,000 via its website by 31 March.

Grants may be used to purchase or upgrade transport, equipment, or facilities to help the charities improve access to employment, training, housing, mobility, or leisure for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society.

Successful applicants will also receive the support of a VINCI employee who, as sponsor, will donate some of their time and skills to the cause.

Since launching in 2016, the VINCI UK Foundation has assisted 170 charities and community projects across the UK and Republic of Ireland with £1.2 million in grants and practical support from VINCI employees.

These include:

  • Soundabout Inclusive Choirs, which received £4,266 in 2021 for instruments and IT equipment, helping to create musical communities without barriers and give a voice to people with severe and profound learning disabilities.
  • Young Futures, which received £14,000 in 2020 to refurbish its central London community flats, where care-leavers can learn the realities of independent living and the life skills they need to secure and keep permanent housing in a safe and supportive environment.
  • RAW Workshop, which received £15,000 in 2019 to set up a professional grounds maintenance service, where those in Oxfordshire communities facing prejudice and barriers to work can find training and employment without judgement.

Ruth Ottley, Head Coordinator of the VINCI UK Foundation, said:

“The charities we support are typically small, local initiatives that are pillars of the community and have a truly transformational impact on people’s lives. It is our privilege and honour to contribute to their incredible work both financially and practically and help make a difference to the local areas surrounding our businesses. I would encourage any charities tackling social exclusion to think about applying.”

The VINCI UK Foundation was launched in early 2016 with the specific goal of promoting social cohesion and fighting exclusion and isolation in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, by combining the skills of VINCI staff with financial assistance. Businesses contributing to the VINCI UK Foundation are VINCI Energies UK & RoI, VINCI Construction UK, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, VINCI Concessions, Bachy Soletanche, Eurovia, Freyssinet, Nuvia and Belfast Airport.
