With Roadchef raising £3m for its charity partner over four years, here’s news of this, and other corporate fundraising partnerships.

TransUnion and Save the Children

TransUnion has now raised over £18,000 for Save the Children through a range of fundraising activities over the past two years. TransUnion has also strengthened its commitment to supporting charities and local communities, by extending paid volunteering time for colleagues, encouraging them to take three days per year to volunteer at local charities. Helping to raise funds for Save the Children’s work in the UK, TransUnion colleagues took part in a ‘Step it Up’ challenge, where over a five-week period, participating members walked a combined distance of 14,513.4km. Colleagues also raised money with donations for taking part in Christmas Jumper Day as well as donating in lieu of cards and celebrations during the festive season.

Across Roadchef’s 30 service areas, team members have participated in all sorts of challenges and activities from bake offs, walks and big hikes, to head shaving. Fundraising at sites has also played a big role with Roadchef customers contributing to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK’s work. Roadchef employees act as ‘Charity Champions’, tasked with organising and engaging team members across the country in fundraising initiatives. Stand-out challenges over the last four years include the Great North Run, the Thames Valley 50km and 100km walk, the Jurassic Coast Challenge and Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walks. In 2021 Roadchef also launched a toy dog called Bertie across its 30 service areas, with 25% of every sale being donated to the charity.

Frugi and Little Clothes Big Change

Frugi has hit the £1 million mark for its Little Clothes Big Change charity project. The initiative sees Frugi commit 1% of its yearly turnover to charities. Having backed many causes across its three pillars – Hunger, Shelter and Nature – Frugi currently supports Eco-Schools and LEAF. And, since 2020, Frugi has funded the Eco-Schools Green Flag certification fees for 150 schools across England as well as training for 500 teachers to become Eco-Coordinators with Eco-Schools. The £1 million charity milestone also means that Frugi has sold over £100 million worth of GOTS certified organic clothing since the brand’s inception in 2004. 85% of Frugi’s products are made of GOTS cotton, which uses no chemicals and less water, and is traceable, ensuring that suppliers and their workers are treated fairly. The remaining 15% of products are made from old polyethylene (PET) plastic bottles that have been spun into yarn to make a durable, water-proof fabric for outerwear, accessories, and swimwear.

Ben and Sytner Group

Sytner Group is continuing its support for automotive charity, Ben, donating £100,000 to help it carry on its work. The charity has lost over £1.5m worth of budgeted income during the pandemic. Sytner Group’s contribution will help the charity keep providing professional and specialist services for people in need. It has increased its impact by more than 30% in the last 12 months with its target to do much more than that in 2022, to meet the rise in demand. In the last 18 months, its focus has been on increasing its mental health services and offering these in a range of ways, since over half of the people getting in touch with the charity are enquiring about mental health or wellbeing issues.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust & PureTec

Cystic Fibrosis Trust has partnered with PureTec (also known as Exercise.co.uk), which is donating £5 from every sale of its Davina exercise bike. The charity was chosen because of personal ties to a member of the team whose sister was born with Cystic Fibrosis. Exercise.co.uk has also been raising money through employee fundraising and posting articles on its website to educate customers on the importance of exercise for people with the condition.
