Rockinghorse Children’s Charity appoints Donna Holland as CEO
Donna Holland has joined Rockinghorse Children’s Charity as CEO. She takes up her role with the well-loved children’s charity after working in the charity sector for the last 20 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. She takes over from Ryan Heal, the previous CEO, who stepped down earlier this year after eight years at the helm. Holland joins Rockinghorse from Concordia where she was Deputy CEO, supporting the charity to expand and improve their youth programmes across Sussex. She has previously been Interim CEO at Brighton-based charity Maternity Worldwide, as well as holding senior roles with many national youth charities over the past twenty years.
Alex’s Wish appoints Alexandra Slack as Chair of Trustees
Alex’s Wish has appointed a new Chair of its Trustee Board. Alexandra Slack from The House of Lifestyle Management, a relatively new trustee of Alex’s Wish, becomes Chair. She has extensive charitable experience and will be starting her role from September, replacing Stephen Dean who has recently completed his two-year term.
Julia Palca to join MAG as Chair of Trustees
A new Chair and four new trustees are to be appointed at the Mines Advisory Group (MAG). Julia Palca, the former chair of Macmillan Cancer Support, will become Chair in October, succeeding Karen Brown. Palca, the Chair of Council at City, University of London, studied law and politics at Durham University and, until 2012, was a partner/consultant with the law firm Olswang LLP. She has served as Chair of Macmillan Cancer Support for nine years from 2010-2019, and was Chair of the Royal Free Charity from 2009 to 2018. She is also a part time Employment Judge and has served as a trustee for several other charities including the Nuffield Trust and the Olswang Foundation.
Andy Taylor-Whyte joins Royal British Legion as interim fundraising lead
Andy Taylor-Whyte has joined the team at the Royal British Legion to take the interim fundraising lead as the charity approaches the 100th Poppy Appeal. Taylor-Whyte, who founded the charity consultancy The Inspiration Bureau, has led appeals at the RNLI and Alzheimer’s Society, also being a Royal Navy veteran and having directed the fundraising and marketing at the Royal Marines charity. He will be helping the Royal British Legion develop their future fundraising strategy as the charity passes its centenary.
Joanne Killian becomes new Chair of Trustees at St Mungo’s
St Mungo’s has welcomed Joanna Killian as its new Chair of Trustees. Killian is Chief Executive of Surrey County Council and previously a partner and Head of Local Government and Devolution at KPMG LLP. She has been a member of the St Mungo’s Board of Trustees since February 2019. Her other non-executive roles have included Board Member at London and Quadrant Housing and Chairperson of SOLACE. She succeeds Robert Napier CBE, who stepped down from his role as Chair at this year’s AGM following six years of service. Killian takes up her post following a selection process that included St Mungo’s clients and staff and will support the organisation’s development and the implementation of its five-year strategic plan.
Jonny Whitehead joins Herts Young Homeless as CEO
Jonny Whitehead has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Herts Young Homeless. Whitehead will succeed Helen Elliott, who will be retiring in December. He is currently Operations Director of Girlguiding UK, where he is responsible for the delivery of Girlguiding activities to 300,000 girls and young women across the UK. Previous posts include Director of an anti-child trafficking non-governmental organisation in Ghana and ten years with Age UK where he supported local Age UK charities to develop and grow their services. He lives in Hatfield and is a trustee of a Welwyn Hatfield advice charity.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices welcomes Paul Farthing as Chief Executive
The Board of Trustees of children’s hospice charity Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to welcome Paul Farthing as its new Chief Executive. Farthing brings over 25 years of extensive leadership experience in both the charity and commercial sectors. He was Managing Director at a charity-specialist marketing communications agency, became High Value Relationships Director at Cancer Research UK and then Director of Fundraising at both Age UK and NSPCC. He joins Shooting Star Children’s Hospices from The Children’s Trust where he was Director of Income Generation and Communications.
Scott Gray joins Mosaic Fulfilment Solutions as CCO
Mosaic Fulfilment Solutions (Mosaic FS) has appointed Scott Gray as Chief Commercial Officer – Charity Division (CCO) to head up a new specialist charity division and drive its development. Gray was previously Managing Director of Rapidata and Head of Payments at The Access Group. In his new role, he will align the Group’s businesses (Mosaic Fulfilment Solutions, Telebank and CommittedGiving), while utilising significant investment in technologies around real-time systems integration, optimisation, and personalisation across all touch points of the supporter journey.
