Julie Child joins the Healthcare Workers’ Foundation as CEO
The Healthcare Workers’ Foundation (HWF) has appointed Julie Child as Chief Executive. Working closely with the charity’s Founder and Chairman, Dr Dominic Pimenta, she will spearhead the charity’s strategy as the NHS and healthcare workers continue grappling with the UK’s pandemic recovery. The appointment marks the next step in HWF’s journey, having launched not long after the UK faced its first major lockdown in early 2020. Child’s appointment will ensure the charity continues to future-proof it’s provisions that support healthcare workers post-pandemic, while also ensuring frontline staff have access to adequate welfare and wellbeing support both now and into the future.
Richard Daniel takes on Chair of Trustees role at RAF Benevolent Fund
Former Raytheon UK CEO Richard Daniel has been appointed as Chair of the Trustees at the RAF Benevolent Fund. He comes with 40 years’ experience as a business and board leader and succeeds Lawrie Haynes who is standing down after eight years in the role. Daniel joined defence contractor Raytheon UK in 2001 as a programme director before being appointed to the board in 2006. He became Chief Executive and Managing Director of Raytheon UK in 2016. He retired from the company in 2020 and has since taken up a role as non-executive director and board advisor for RLC Aerospace and also serves on the Finance Committee of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Scottish SPCA announces Fiona MacLeod as next Board Chair
The Scottish SPCA has announced Fiona MacLeod as its next Chair. MacLeod will take up the position in May, succeeding current Board Chair Ronnie Soutar when his term of office ends. She is currently a Non-Executive Director with Denholm Energy Services. Her previous Board roles include Clydesdale Yorkshire Bank plc and Virgin Money plc. She brings considerable experience in the charity sector, having been a Development Board member for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Chair of the Women’s Fund for Scotland. She has also enjoyed a 30-year career in the energy business, working in senior roles in Europe, Australasia and North America. As CEO of her own consultancy, she worked with clients including Qantas and Scottish Water on transformational organisational change and Board effectiveness.
Bob Forsyth appointed Chair of Trustees at London’s Air Ambulance Charity
The Board of London’s Air Ambulance Charity has announced the appointment of Bob Forsyth as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees. The appointment comes after a far reaching and competitive process, involving external and internal candidates facilitated and guided by Inclusive Boards. Forsyth has been a trustee of the Charity since 2017, leading the establishment of the Board’s Audit and Risk Committee and chairing it for over four years. He is a Senior Assurance Partner at Ernst & Young LLP, having held a number of senior management roles, including leading transformational change programmes, and was Co-Leader of the EY Centre for Board Matters. He has led two cultural change programmes in a large UK operation and is has been a D&I leader for over 15 years.
Anna Turner appointed by Legacy Foresight as Head of Research & Insight
Legacy Foresight has announced the appointment of strategic insight specialist Anna Turner as its Head of Research and Insight. Joining the team from global marketing agency Ogilvy, Turner brings over 20 years’ research experience to the role, bridging charity and private sector brands, as well as national government campaigns. In her time at Ogilvy, she worked as a strategist and insight specialist on major brands and organisations including Dove, Boots, Nestle, The Samaritans, WWF, WRAP and The Home Office. She is also a mentor with global education network World ORT. At Legacy Foresight, Turner will lead on some of the organisation’s most well-known research programmes including In-Memory Insight, Legacy Fundraising 2.0, as well as ad-hoc research such as the imminent Stewarding Lay Executors project.
Rebecca Pownall joins GOOD Agency as Client Services Director
Pownall will be responsible for leading GOOD Agency’s Client Services department. She joins GOOD following a tenure at WPP/Grey London where she was responsible for leading key global clients, including GSK and Procter & Gamble. A seasoned Client Services leader, Pownall led the Global Theraflu business for WPP/Team GSK, overseeing ‘Power In Your Hands’ as the first Global campaign from the new GSK / WPP partnership. Pownall brings a wealth of experience across digital, TV, retail & connected commerce, and direct. She has also worked with a wide range of notable UK and Global clients, including Diageo, British Heart Foundation, Mondelez International, PepsiCo, AkzoNobel and Unilever.
