Tudor Trust has announced that it is closing to new applications for a year from 1 April.
It is doing this so it can set aside time to re-think how the Trust operates in future, with a key driver being learning the Tudor Trust has done around racial justice, and how it can embed this both internally and through its grant making.
In a statement on its site, the Trust adds:
“We also be looking at how we build all aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion more fully into our work, and challenging ourselves around accessibility and power dynamics.
“While we have made a start on this, the day-to-day work of being a relational funder, particularly in these challenging times, has left little time for more in-depth, strategic work. Temporarily closing to new applicants will free up time for us to do the work we need to do to make us a better, more accountable funder.”
It will be publishing updated funding guidelines on 1 April 2023.
From 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 the Trust will still consider applications for continuation funding from groups it is currently supporting, with more information on this on its site.
Over the year it will also be looking for opportunities to ‘devolve’ some of its grant making by providing funds to a number of partner or intermediary organisations for distribution.
It will continue to assess applications under its current guidelines throughout February and March this year but warns it will not be taking any more applications through to second stage than usual so competition is likely to be strong.
