SPEEDWAY, Ind. (January 4, 2015) – The family of Speedway fire victim Penny Stewart is speaking out about their loved one and her decision to be an organ donor.
Early on New Year’s Day, fire crews were called to the home Stewart, 45, shared with her boyfriend and former Sprint Car driver Greg Staab. Several firefighters pulled Stewart from the home and medical crews performed CPR.
She was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Firefighters said Stewart suffered smoke inhalation, and she was declared “brain dead” Friday night.
“She didn`t deserve to die this way. But everything happens for a reason,” said Dee Lockhart, Sewart’s cousin. Continue reading
