“We were thrilled to see that the African American population has now become the group with the highest organ donor per million rate - and that minorities now say yes to donation at a greater than 31% rate; a doubling of 15% from previous decades. The shortage of donors is the #1 problem in transplantation today and all communities must work together in our efforts to decrease the 121,000 waiting, over 50% of whom are minority patients."
