Even before sharing a home or the same last name, a local couple shares something perhaps more vital to life together - a kidney.
Tyler residents Shari Lewis and Christopher Coker started dating after they were introduced by mutual friends in March of 2013, not knowing that less than a year later Christopher’s health would begin to fail.
After six months of dating, the couple made plans to go on a cruise, where Christopher hoped to propose. Soon after putting down a payment toward the romantic getaway, Christopher began having health problems that included severe irregular function of his right kidney.
