POCATELLO — To say Sharlette Moreno has had a difficult year would be an understatement, but the single mother of two said Christmas 2015 turned out to be her family’s best ever. Not because of gifts but because someone cared about them.
Moreno became ill last November, and her kidneys failed in April. She’s now on dialysis seven days a week. Moreno met with nurse coordinators and hopes to be placed on the organ transplant list this year.
Prior to her illness, Moreno worked at Portneuf Medical Center, and she also tended bar part time at McDermott’s Bar and the Blue Heeler Bar and Grill, but her health eventually forced her to quit working.
As the holiday approached, she prepared her kids, 16-year-old Dawson and 13-year-old Sarah, for a lean Christmas. Continue reading
