Charity cashback shopping site GoRaise is supporting event participants with a new functionality that enables them to use the site to help meet their fundraising targets.
Fundraisers can register their event on the GoRaise site, and ask people to sign up to support it. Each time supporters shop online with a participating retailer, the retailer donates to that challenge. Over 2,500 retailers, including Argos, John Lewis, M&S and Topman, have agreed to donate to challengers’ events every time their supporters buy from them online.
The site also links into all the major fundraising platforms including Virgin Money Giving, JustGiving and BTMyDonate.
Dame Kelly Holmes (pictured) has teamed up with GoRaise to help her raise sponsorship for the London Marathon and is using her GoRaise page in conjunction with Virgin Money Giving to reach her target. Dame Kelly has set herself a target of raising £250,000 to be shared between five charities: the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Hospice in the Weald, Myeloma UK, Pickering Cancer Centre and Mind UK.
To encourage further donations, retailers are also offering prizes to people that generate a donation through GoRaise.
Gary Thompson, founder and CEO of GoRaise said:
“I know how difficult it is to raise money when doing an event, and setting up GoRaise for challengers seemed like an easy way to help out. The team is really excited to be working with Dame Kelly Holmes.”
