Got rhythm? It helps your donors give

One of the ways top-notch writers make their copy readable, memorable, and persuasive is they make it rhythmic. Rhythm carries your reader along and makes the experience of reading more pleasurable.

So how do you make your writing more rhythmic? Here's help from the Bad Language blog, at I got rhythm: how to write foot-tapping copy:

• The rule of three. (Write things in groups of three.)
  
• Short words and short sentences. (This always improves rhythm. Long words can be clunky and awkward, like a rusty wheelbarrow on the dance floor.)
  
• Read it aloud. (This is the best way to improve your rhythm. Clunky, arrhythmic prose is hard to read out loud. You'll catch it immediately.
  

Here's one more way to get more rhythm: Read great writing. Especially poetic stuff like Shakespeare. Read silently, out loud, or on tape. Let it seep into your consciousness. Your rhythm will improve over time.
