The simple act of raising your hand and capturing it with the Blippar app and camera on your mobile device will let you show your support for World Refugee Day. ‘Blipp’ (or scan) your hand and you will sign UNHCR’s #WithRefugees petition asking governments to act with solidarity and shared responsibility.

Augmented reality and visual discovery app Blippar will also let you share a ‘hand selfie’ to promote the campaign with its hashtag #WithRefugees.

Once you have blipped your hand, you are presented with a short film trailer, starring Jack O’Connell and titled ‘Home’, which depicts the plight of refugees. The film, which has been specially created for the campaign, is also launching in Picturehouse cinemas today, World Refugee Day.

The film was created by BBH London’s in-house production unit, Black Sheep Studios. It was made in partnership with Somesuch, and DokuFest, the Kosovan film festival, and is supported by UNHCR.

Blippar uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to recognise everyday objects to unlock relevant content and explain the connections between them.

Omaid Hiwaizi, President Global Marketing at Blippar, said:

“We are proud to work with UNHCR and BBH to enable people to raise their hands, whatever their colour or creed, in support of refugees. As an an extremely diverse global company, Blippar stands firmly #WithRefugees.”
