MEMORIAL to honour those who have helped save a life through organ donation is set to be unveiled at Burton's Queen's Hospital.
The Burton Hospitals Organ Donation Committee is to reveal a specially designed memorial at a prominent spot within the hospital – and the public have been asked to name it.
Funded by the NHS Blood and Transplant authority, the memorial will serve as a tribute to those who have helped save lives.
Chairman of the committee William Saunders hopes that the memorial will prompt more people to sign up to the donor register.
He said: "We are following in the footsteps of many hospital trusts across the country who have done exactly the same.
"It is right to pay tribute to these people. When people donate their organs, relatives are asked at what is a very difficult time. Their loved one has just died and they have to deal with that.
"This memorial will be in a location seen by a lot of people and hopefully it will remind them about the organ donation register.
"We give a number of talks to schools and try to get across the point that it is important that people talk about it. Continue reading
